No Brains? No Braun

ESPN reported that Ryan Braun tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug approximately one month before he was voted the National League MVP, and he now faces a 50-game suspension beginning next season.

Ryan blows it
Braun is disputing the result (calling it "B.S.") according to USA Today, which reportedly revealed he had elevated levels of testosterone in his body.

MLB is trying to confirm the test through the World Anti-Doping Agency in Montreal, according to the report.

"There are highly unusual circumstances surrounding this which will support Ryan's complete innocence and demonstrate there was absolutely no intentional violation of the program," a Braun spokesman said in a press release.

Hmm, "no intentional violation," I wonder what the hell that means? To me, it kind of has an "Officer, I didn’t know the gun was loaded" ring to it, but I have to admit that I am initially saddened by this, rather than pissed off about it. I’ve been a fan of the Ryan Braun I have seen, as he seems like a nice kid, but it’s hard for me to imagine what it’s like being a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers this morning? They know they are losing Prince Fielder to free agency, but things evened up when Pujols signed with the Angels, and now this.

I’ll get pissed off about it later.
